LSEB Web have also been busy in getting the website ready for Kiddieko to allow them to trade in Spain, and therefore the whole site has had to be translated into Spanish, with the product prices transferred into Euros.

What are the following t'interweb thingies

What a great question from thenappycakequeen on facebook Question: ‘What are the following t'interweb thingies: widgets, RSS feeds and how do I get my website to appear on a search engine search?’ Well first it is FREE to add your site to google. The following URL will add your site to google. It takes about 12 hours or so for google to find your site. (http://www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/addurl) However this will NOT automatically add you on the 1st page of a google search. To get your site moved up the rankings of google is another question. This is called Search Engine Optimisation (SEO for short.) This is technique of enhancing a websites chance of being ranked in the top results, thus 1st page, of a search engine once a relevant search is undertaken. A number of factors are important when optimizing a web site, including the content and structure of the web site's copy and page layout, the HTML meta-tags and the submission process. LSEB Web can help with this, just contact us for details as it can be a long difficult process. A Widget - is something which a person (user) can interact with to do something, sometimes through a click or by hovering the mouse over something. Often resulting in nice things happening! "Balloon help" can be classed as a widget. Another example of a widget is on ebay - when you hover over the magnifying glass on an item for sale, it shows a bigger picture - this is a widget! RSS feeds - This is where you have an up to the minute "feed" of information. So for example on the BBC website news page - there is text which scrolls along the top with up to date news or breaking news - this is an RSS feed. With these feeds you can download them to your computer and have the information on your machine without having to visit the site. Some people see RSS feeds as blogs and regular updates which people may be interested. Hope this helps and please feel free to “like” LSEB Web on facebook to ask any other questions!

LSEB Web has had the privilege to spend the day at Oulton Park thanks to the Aztec GP team. The 2nd round of the BSB 125 Relentless British Championship saw the Aztec rider ‘Ed Rendell’ starting from the back of the pack but fighting his way through the field to 10th place where on the final corner of the final lap saw the Aztec machine has a technical problem which meant Ed did not finish the race. It was a relieve to see both Ed and the bike back in the paddock, even if both where a bit battered and bruised.LSEB Web remains a committed partner of the Aztec GP team and wishes the team well for the rest of the season.
Templated Websites good or bad?

At LSEB Web we create all websites from scratch, individually for each of our clients, because we think this is the best solution for most small businesses and as such believe many of the other sites (often classed incorrectly as free) which offer . Therefore our view of the drawbacks of template sites may seem biased, but please understand, it is based on our experience in the e-commerce and website world. We are looking from clients who have tried running an on-line business via a template store package, and found it did not meet their needs. Different things work for different businesses. What counts is what will work for yours!

Most template providers are pretty big companies, and you may end up feeling like a number with them. The total responsibility for the success or failure of your on-line business will depend upon you, rather than having the comfort of a professional"s advice. What may seem like a good deal up-front may turn out to be costly. Most of the features needed for running an essential web store will cost more. Basic quoted costs may simply not offer the features you will need, so do read carefully. Do take into consideration that the company can raise their fees at any time.

Please keep in mind that potentially hundreds of other businesses have the exact the same design as yourself. If you website does not look unique, or doesn"t have a ‘wow" factor, chances are you will bore the visitor who will then navigate to another site, and you have then potentially lost business.

Template providers can, and do, go out of business. If this happens, so do you, as your store will exist on their servers. It's important for you to understand that if you ever wanted to move your business elsewhere, you can't take your template store with you. It belongs to the template provider - not you. This has caused countless businesses huge headaches after years of time and money were put into developing their template based store. If you buy a template store, you're stuck with it, even if it ceases to meet the needs of your business.

There are 2 major problems with template providers. The first of these is that the majority of template sites are not designed to be search engine friendly, and in most cases, you cannot overwrite their unfriendly code with friendly code. This is a huge problem if you want Google, Yahoo, etc to find and index your site. If they cannot find if nor will your visitors. So, this is a major concern when judging template packages. The second concern revolves around lack of training. If you are running a web business in the Internet marketplace, you will be competing against my clients, all of whom are benefiting from my years of experience as a designer, developer and SEO professional. If you are not a professional, how will you get your site to outrank your competition, especially when your competition retains professionals to help them win the top search engine rankings and abundant traffic?

A business owner who is determined to go it alone has simply got to devote the time it will take to learning SEO and Internet Marketing skills. Few business owners seem to have the time to do this. If you are really going to do it all yourself, you've got to be realistic about the time it will take for you to develop better than average SEO and marketing skills, as well as the time it will take to be constantly improving the value of your site for the life of your business.

When looking to design a website and save money, try and save money on other things but don"t cheap out on the design trust me, it will come back to haunt you soon enough.

Top 5 Web Site Jargon Explained

Many clients are often puzzled over some of the terms frequently associated with the Web Design/development process. Here are LSEB Web's top 5 Web Site Terminology for this week

1. Content Management System (CMS)
In the context of a Web site a CMS is a collection of tools designed to allow the creation, modification organisation and removal of information from a Web site. It is common for a CMS to require users to have no knowledge of HTML in order to create new Web pages.
2.	E-commerce
E-commerce (electronic commerce) is the process of buying, selling and transferring money through the internet.
3. Hits
This term refers to the number of files that are downloaded from a web server. Keeping track of hits is a way of measuring traffic to a website that can be misleading. The number of hits a site receives is usually much greater than the number of actual visitors. That's because a web page can contain more than one file. For example, each graphic element is a separate file, so a page with nine graphics would count as ten hits, one for each graphic and one for the HTML file. In this scenario, a page may have 10,000 hits, but only 1,000 visits.
4.	JavaScript
JavaScript is a client-side scripting language used to create dynamic Web pages. JavaScript should not be confused with Java, the full featured programming language.
5.	Quick Response code (QR Tag)
A QR Tag is a two-dimensional barcode that is readable by dedicated QR barcode readers and camera telephones. The code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background. The information encoded may be text, URL, or other data.

As you know Stuart Bromhead ran the London Marathon 2011 on April 17. LSEB Web are pleased to report that Stuart completed the London marathon in a fantastic time of 4 hours 40 minutes and 15 seconds (11 seconds according to Stuarts watch!). There to support Stuart where is wife and son, along with Neal, Michelle’s cousin. The family managed to see Stuart as he passed the 18 mile marker, still looking like he had pliantly of running left in the tank, and again with 1 mile to go, where Stuart stopped to give a kiss to both Michelle and is son, Samuel.
Seeing his family in that last mile give Stuart the energy to speed up and sprint to the finish, passing all that where in the way, with no one passing him.
Thank you also the Asthma UK for their support all around the course giving sweets, high fives and cheers. Also for the massage after the race. Boy did the legs need it.
The memories will live long of the support of the crowd, other runners and the different sights seen along the way.

Stuart Bromhead is going to be running the London Marathon 2011,in aid of Asthma UK. Support Stuart Bromhead <br/><br/> As you may or may not know, I’m running the London marathon this month in aid of Asthma UK. I’m running to raise funds for Asthma UK because my wife suffers from asthma and my son was in hospital, at the age of 5 months with breathing difficulties, and is now showing signs of developing asthma. Training has been hard, for someone who does not do any running, not even for a bus, but I have kept up with going out 5 times a week, in the sun, wind and rain, and yes even when it was -13 outside. I was even training while on holiday in the USA, doing 10-15k runs every day. I have had my injuries other the last couple of months, ankles, knees and hips, but I’ve kept going, so please dig deep and help support me and Asthma UK, in the London marathon Did you know: On average, 3 people per day or 1 person every 7 hours dies from asthma One in 11 children has asthma and it is the most common long-term medical condition If one parent has asthma, the chance of their child developing asthma is approximately double that of children whose parents don't have asthma. Every 17 minutes a child is admitted to hospital in the UK because of their asthma.
